Perched atop its three-legged base, the shade on the Nelson Lantern Tripod Lamp looks like a delicate origami sculpture. But this translucent cover, made via a technique Nelson pioneered for his Bubble Lamp (1952), is an engineering marvel that was inspired by the process the Navy used to mothball ships. The Lantern Tripod Lamp is produced in collaboration with the George Nelson Foundation.
